How long is the fertile window?
About six days: the five days before ovulation plus ovulation day itself. Sperm can survive for several days, so intercourse in the days leading up to ovulation can still result in conception.
How accurate is this?
It is an estimate based on an average cycle. Real ovulation varies, especially with irregular cycles, so ovulation tests or tracking basal body temperature give a more precise picture.
What if my cycle is irregular?
The calculator assumes a fairly consistent cycle length, so its estimate becomes less reliable if your cycles vary a lot from month to month. Tracking several cycles, or using ovulation predictor kits, gives a better picture when your cycle is not regular.
What are the physical signs of ovulation?

Yes — cycle regularity and egg quality both tend to change with age, and fertility gradually declines, more noticeably after the mid-30s. The timing formula itself does not change, but the odds of conception during the fertile window can differ with age.
When should I see a doctor about fertility?
It is generally recommended to seek advice after a year of trying to conceive without success, or after six months if you are over 35. A doctor can check for cycle irregularities or other factors that a simple date calculation cannot capture.
